Rtn MPHF Babu Joseph

Babu Joseph was born on 27th August 1953 at Alwaye as the eldest son of late KA Joseph, a soldier turned businessman, and late Rosakutty, a teacher. After his early education in St. Mary's High School and UC College Alwaye, he graduated from Sacred Heart's College, Thevara and took his LLB from Govt. Law College, Ernakulam. He did his MBA in Cochin University. He practiced as an Advocate for a brief period before becoming as a full-fledged businessman in Cochin. Now Babu is involved in the distribution of Bharat Gas and Khaitan fans. He is also a Fleet owner of Trucks and Transporter of LPG cylinders of BPCL.

Babu is involved in many social activities. He is a Member of the Food Advisory Council, an apex body of Govt. of Kerala and Member of Kerala & Ernakulam District Sports Councils. He is the National Vice President and Kerala President of All India LPG Distributors Federation. He is in the Managing Committee of many Sports Organizations. He is the Vice President of Ball Badminton Federation of India, President of Kerala state Ball Badminton Association, Vice President of Kerala state Handball Association and President of Ernakulam District Soft Ball Association. He is the Vice President of Cochin Kennel Club and Vice President of the Apex Council of Commerce and Trade. He was the Honorary Secretary of Regional Sports Centre, Ernakulam for 7 years. He completed the construction of Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium at a cost of Rs.7 Crores for which he received the Award for the Best sports Administrator from Sacred Hearts College, Thevara. He is a Member of Ernakulam YMCA and Member of many other Social Clubs in Cochin. He has widely traveled both in and out of India.

Rtn Babu Joseph joined Rotary club of Cochin Midtown in January 1986. He became its Hony. Secretary in 1989-90 and received the Award for the Outstanding Secretary of the Rotary District in that year. He served the club in all the avenues of service as the Director on the Board for 5 years. He was the Secretary of the District Conference of Governor Ajit in 1993. He was a successful President of the Club in 1993-94. He was the District Chairman of various avenues in Rotary for 4 years from 1996 to 2000. He was the District Chairman of Rotary District Assembly, Motivation 99 held at Cochin of Governor Dr. Muruganaathan. He was the GSR to form two Rotary Clubs, Rotary Club of Tripunithura and Cochin Global. He was the District Director for 5 years from 2000-05 and presently he is the District Governor Elect of our District 3200.

Rtn MPHF Babu Joseph is married to Binu and they are blessed with a daughter Bikku - a Civil Engineer doing MBA - and two sons - Bittu, an Engineering student and Boris, in 12th standard.
